Founded by remedial therapist and sports injury expert, Steve Hurl, we are a group of health and fitness industry experts who have come together to share our expertise and passion with our community in the inner-north of Melbourne.

What we share is a passion for improving health, fitness, energy, self-esteem and wellbeing. And we’ve been improving lives for over 20 years.

STEVEN HURL
OWNER / PERSONAL TRAINER

Founder, owner and personal trainer Steve Hurl is passionate about changing lives. That’s why he started Hurl’s Fitness 20 years ago. Together with his handpicked bunch of experts, he has created a boutique gym and fitness studio that is professional and friendly.
Steve has a genuine passion for health and fitness. And it shows. His engaging style and his holistic approach has created a large following of committed regulars of all ages.

He is a recognised leader in the fitness industry. He lectured in sports injury management and sports massage, and was part of the remedial team for the 2000 Sydney Olympic games.

He works as a strength conditioning coach with professional athletes from a range of sports.

Steve is a local through and through. He grew up in the Collingwood/Fitzroy area and his first sports injury clinic was in Hunt’s Fitness Centre in Fitzroy. (When that became a franchise, Steve left to open his first fitness studio in Clifton Hill.) He works with his beloved local Fitzroy Football Club
What Steve loves is not only improving fitness, but health and wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem – long term, lifestyle changes.

He knows that the best personal training is all about building relationships, respect and rapport, over weeks, months and years even decades. He cares about his clients, sharing their frustrations and their successes.

There’s nothing he likes more than helping people exceed their own expectations.

Steve lives what he teaches. His level of knowledge and not only comes from his years dedicated to the fitness industry but also through his own practical experience and training as a professional athlete.

Joel Hurls Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer
KATHY MUSKAT
PERSONAL TRAINER

Kathy’s love for fitness began when she fell in love with dance at 8 years old. Growing up she continued her training in all kinds of sports including triathlons, sprinting, swimming, and pilates.
Choosing a career in the corporate world, she soon realised her love for health and fitness was her path. Quickly gained qualifications in fitness, Pilates, Kickboxing and Movement. She believes in the importance of developing trainer-to-client relationships and has discovered that through exercise, people can find courage, support and health. She believes that exercise can be life-changing, no matter what age people start or resume participation.
Kathy has further developed her skills and knowledge with Exercise and Nutrition, because she maintains that a healthy diet and lifestyle are interlinked to maintaining total body health . Strongly believing food is medicine . Constantly evolving and updating  her qualifications, specializing and understanding body mechanics has assisted numerous clients  in reducing pain and rehabilitating after injury.
She is passionate and has constantly found a way to get the best results with her clients, always developing an individual, personal relationship with each of them. She  believes , believing in yourself can overcome all boundaries.

TANISHA BARDZINSKI
PERSONAL TRAINER

Tanisha has been an avid netballer for over 10 years and wants to share this passion with others in helping them prevent injuries and improve their performance.

Tanisha’s specialties include strength and conditioning training for sports especially netball and high intensity interval training (HIIT).

She is a firm believer of doing something today that your future self will thank you for. Tanisha seeks to empower others and help them create and achieve their health and fitness goals in a positive environment. She understands this path may not be an easy one and she is there to help and support you along the way.

BEN BUTLER-BONNICE
PERSONAL TRAINER / PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Ben graduated with a Bachelor of Health science, Anatomy and Physiology major from La Trobe University in 2014 and completed a Masters of Physiotherapy practice in 2016.

He has a Certificate IV in Fitness, a Diploma in Sports coaching and Development and has also completed a Nutrition for Exercise and Sport course through Sports Dieticians Australia.

Ben has been working as a Personal Trainer for over eight years and in this time he has gained experience in strength training, mobility and rehabilitation, manual therapy, customer service, communication skills and client’s overall health management.

Ben’s unique background in martial arts and personal training has enabled him to combine skills in strength training and physiotherapy to deliver the best possible outcome for his clients and patients using a personalised and functional approach to rehabilitation.

Brad Hurls Fitness Personal Trainer
BRAD BULLOCK
PERSONAL TRAINER / REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPIST

Brad has worked in the Health and Fitness industry for over 8 years as Personal Trainer, Endurance Sports Coach and Remedial Massage Therapist.

Brad specialises in strength and conditioning for endurance athletes. He has a holistic focus on functional movement and his clients’ overall wellbeing.

His training philosophy is to learn about his client, and he respects that everyone has different needs.

Brad also has over 25 years experience as a competitive cyclist and triathlete. During his career he has raced many different road races, mountain bike and adventure races, Sprint, Olympic, Half Ironman and Ironman Triathlon distances, qualifying for the Hawaiian Ironman World Championships in 2011.

JOEL SMITH
PERSONAL TRAINER / REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPIST

Joel brings his passion and love for health and fitness to motivate his clients to feel the same way. He specialises in well-thought-out training programs, with attention to detail, lots of help and support, and some greats tips.

Joel has an indepth knowledge of correct posture and movement analysis and incorporates this into his training style. He focuses on building-up your abilities first, creating a foundation before gradually pushing and upping your workload.

This way, Joel has you training smart rather then hard. His functional training style keeps you engaged, healthy and most importantly injury-free.
Joel is also a firm believer of goal setting and the importance of what motivation and encouragement can do for his clients, enabling you to stick to your training and turn exercise into a fun event rather then a chore.

Joel has been involved with sports and fitness his whole life, whether it be in his younger days as a keen cross country and long distance runner, or more recently playing soccer and tennis – and an Advanced Diploma in Sports Therapy.

Joel loves to fully engage with his clients and get an understanding of your lifestyle, work and hobbies in order to give you the full tailored approach.

ZOE DELLAPORTAS
PERSONAL TRAINER / POWERLIFTING & BODYBUILDING COACH

Zoe has always been in the sports industry in some capacity. From being a player for the Bulleen Boomers Basketball Club from the age of 7, through to getting a Sports Management Degree and working in AFL (Carlton Football Club) for 10 years, and participating in a multitude of sports/activities, you could say that she has always been a part of the sports scene.

But it wasn’t until 9 years ago when she began lifting weights, that a true passion was found.

Building and expressing strength is addictive, for all the right reasons. Not only in a physiological capacity but in a mental one too. Zoe has since gone on to successfully compete in both Bodybuilding (1st place ICN Fitness Model) and Powerlifting (1st place U84kg Powerlifting Australia) competitions, and is an accredited coach in both capacities.

Whilst Zoe coaches competitors, her preference is coaching general population clients to achieve the best versions of themselves and whom want to age well. She uses best evidence-based practices when it comes to training and nutrition, and gets a thrill by educating clients on weight training and showing them that they are capable of more than they thought possible.

A stickler for technique and safety in lifting, she will teach you how to train and program you accordingly to help you reach your goals – whether it be fat loss, muscle gaining, or strength related.

KAITLIN ELLIS
DIETITIAN

A lover of all things science and food related, it was only natural that Kaitlin would eventually dedicate her life to food science by becoming a dietitian. Kaitlin is a strong believer that knowledge is power and finds great joy in teaching clients, family and friends about the many ways that food can assist them.

Kaitlin can use her evidence-based knowledge to:

Create personalised eating plans that take your medical conditions and/or personal circumstances in to account
Assess your nutritional needs and assist in correcting any deficiencies
Provide information on healthy eating, food shopping, eating out and preparing food at home
Assist in the nutritional management of a wide array of medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, food allergy, gastrointestinal diseases, pregnancy, cancer, coeliac disease, liver and kidney disease and cystic fibrosis among a host of other conditions.
Additionally, Kaitlin has also completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science and can assist both gym goers and athletes to achieve their goals through the use of food, drinks and supplements (where needed).

Kaitlin understands that everybody is unique and brings this view to her dietetic practice, providing individualised flexible advice and resources which consider every aspect of the person as well as the scientific evidence in the field.

Kaitlin is a strong believer in balance, not perfection when it comes to food. She practises what she preaches and eats everything from tuna and spinach to cheesecake and ice cream and everything in between. Her favourite food being chocolate!

Dietitians are recognised and registered with Medicare and most private health funds.
